Two Seattle Dance visionaries, Heather Kravas and Tonya Lockyer, are in residence with Cornish Dance Theater students this fall experimenting with patterns of movement and energy in Cornish's 9th Avenue Gallery.
In Kravas’s Be Sides, three discreet dances unfold in time and space, to be contemplated simultaneously by the performers and audience. Like weather systems across a vast expanse, the improvised and choreographed structures feature morphing lunges, anomalous shapes, and ecstatic pony prances.
In Lockyer's performance, co-created with Cornish Dance students, a web of interconnectedness reflects performance histories and how a small change can make a world of difference. Energetic patterns meet ghosts of Beckett, Bruce Nauman, hip hop and performance dance.
